LEAGUE RULES

1. TERMS
League Player - A player that is part of the league and eligible for playoffs.

League Approved Player - A player whose games count towards the league stats, but is not part of the standings and is not eligible for playoffs.

2. LEAGUE PLAYER ENTRY
New League Players can only be added between seasons. If a player is approved for the league in the middle of a season, they will need to wait until the next season to begin league play.

For a new player to be admitted as a League Player, they must do all of the following:

  • Be unanimously voted into the league by all current league players
  • Pass a tryout where they must win at least one game in a 3-game round-robin with three current, sober league players that are within the top four spots in the league standings.

3. LEAGUE APPROVED PLAYER ENTRY
League approved players can become League Approved at any point during a season. For a player to become League Approved, they must be unanimously voted into League Approved status by all current league players.

4. SEASON AND PLAYOFFS
Seasons last for 6-12+ months, and always begin on the first day of the month after the season reaches the minimum number of games required. At the end of each season, the playoffs for that season begin. Either of the following conditions will cause a season to end:

  • The season has been played for at least six (6) months, and at least three (3) players have played more than forty (40) games.
  • The season has been played for twelve (12) or more months, and at least three (3) players have played more than twenty (20) games.

To qualify for playoffs, each player must play MORE than 2/5ths (40%) of the average of the games played by the five players with the most games played. The top four qualifying players in the standings will be entered into the playoffs. The seeds will be based on the standings at the end of the season, and any disqualifications due to lack of play will move the players below the disqualified player up by one seed each. This means that if the #1 seed is disqualified, the #2 seed will be considered #1.

Playoff series are one-on-one best of 7 series. The playoff brackets will be setup as such: 1 seed vs 4 seed, 2 seed vs 3 seed. The winner of each series will play each other in a best of 7 championship series for the Lord Spinny Jones Cup.

Changes can be made to the series format if both players agree to the changes and they are within the rules. A series can be no less than 7 games and no more than 11 games. Changes to table, venue, cups, etc are all allowed as long as both players agree. If both players cannot agree, the default of handy-panel and standard beer cans will be used.

5. SCORING STIPULATIONS
A. If there is a legal throw that hits the correct side of the table and then comes back to roll off of the table between the cans on the throwing team's side, any drop will be split half and half between players on the catching team.

B. If both catching players touch the die at any point while attempting to catch a throw and the play results in a drop, both players will receive half of a drop UNLESS both players agree that the drop should be credited completely to one player. This stipulation does not apply if one player intentionally hits the die into the other player in a strictly malign manner.
